Guest Post: Leanne Makes a Shortened Hughes Dress

This guest post was written by Leanne of @threadyforit You can shop the Hughes Dress here.  ---- Hi y'all!  I'm Leanne from @threadyforit a 30 something sewist living in Phoenix, AZ. As a plus sized sewist, I always get excited when indie pattern companies expand their sizes for existing patterns, and the Hughes Dress from Friday Pattern Company is no exception. Our community has been making such strides to be more size inclusive and it's amazing to see how far it's come in the past three years. Every month more and more patterns are more readily available in a larger size range and, speaking just from my POV, it's such a good feeling to feel seen and heard by a community that you love...

Guest Post: Mijke Makes the Cutest Square Neck Top Ever

This guest post was written by Mijke of @sewitcurly You can shop the Square Neck Top here.  ---- Hello, I am Mijke from @sewitcurly and I very happy to present my Square Neck top here on the Friday Pattern Co. blog. The pattern has been recently updated and I was so very glad to see Chelsea had added two cup sizes for her woven version. As I am very small around the bust, I always do a small bust adjustment, but this time there was no need! Yay! I chosen to make the size small, but in hindsight XS would have been better. As a cute addition to this pattern I have made a small ruffle inside the neckline. I will tell...

Guest Post: Mismatched-Team-Couple Ilford Jackets by Gabrielle

During Aotearoa New Zealand’s autumn, I’d been hanging out in the Ilford Jacket hashtag an awful lot, imagining how useful it would be to have a new mid-weight jacket for winter.  One morning, I leaned across to show my husband, Justin, photos of the Ilford, saying, “I think I might make one of these for myse—” when he excitedly exclaimed, “Oh yeah!  I really like that!  I’d like one in navy, or maybe tan!”  What a cheeky chops!

Wilder Sweatshirt Hack

I recently made a Wilder Gown top as a sweatshirt and I basically haven't shut up about it since. I love when I can replace a classic wardrobe staple with something that has more personality! This hack was easy to sew and took me less than an afternoon to complete. Iseefabric.com sent me the softest organic cotton french terry fabric in the world. I knew I wanted something out of this amazing ochre color.   The Wilder pattern is designed for woven fabrics but for the top was easy to make out of a knit. The only difference from how the top is constructed in the pattern is that I used a stretch stitch (it's a narrow zig zag that...
