About

At Friday Pattern Company we really love sewing and we want you to love it too. We believe that the process of sewing is something to be enjoyed, so we design our patterns with that in mind. Sewing clothing is such a gratifying form of self expression and we would be honored to accompany you on that journey.

Friday Patterns are a design collaboration with our customers - our hope is that our patterns spark your creativity. We create patterns that are versatile and hackable because we want our patterns to be something you reach for again and again.

Sewing is something that should be accessible so we offer lots of free support materials through our YouTube and blog as well as a growing collection of free/pay what you can patterns. We also want you to feel good about shopping with us so we donate 5% of all proceeds to a rotating collection of the top-ranked charities in the world. Each pattern benefits a different charity.

We hope you find joy in sewing and that after you’re done you have a garment that you treasure. Below are some resources for extra support and inspiration in your sewing journey!

About the Founder:

Hey, I’m Chelsea! I started Friday Pattern Company in 2017. I have always loved sewing and knew that my dream career would involve making clothing in some way. I studied fashion design in college but discovered that the fashion industry in the traditional sense was not something I was interested in, so I changed my major and started looking for other ways to connect with sewing and fashion. I worked at a fabric store, I had a handmade dress business, and I worked for a small clothing company. Creating Friday was the culmination of all my experiences, ventures, jobs, and interests.

I think making clothes is the perfect marriage of function and art. Getting dressed is a way that we get to be creative everyday and cultivating a personal style is an important avenue for self expression. I love being able to create garments that are unique to me.

Sewing is a skill that has shaped my life and that I cherish deeply. Being able to help or inspire people to sew is my favorite thing about my job. I hope that if you sew a Friday Pattern you get to feel in the zone and connected with your creativity. I hope that you make something that you love and that it makes you feel good when you wear it. Most importantly, I hope you have fun!

Happy sewing,

Chelsea
