The Donny Shirt is designed to be loose-fitting and comfortable, with a slightly dropped shoulder and a relaxed silhouette that can be easily dressed up or down. It's a great choice for a casual weekend look, or dressed up with a matching pair of pants!
The pattern as with all our patterns, includes detailed instructions and illustrations to guide you through every step of the sewing process. See the fabric recommendations, yardage requirements, fit notes, and ready-to-wear inspiration below.
RECOMMENDED FABRIC
The Donny Shirt is designed for woven fabrics. Any sort of light to medium weight woven is suitable. If you choose a fabric like a mid-weight twill or denim you will get a more structured top. If you choose a drapier fabric like a rayon challis or silk, you will get a blousier top.
One of the best things about the Donny Shirt pattern is its versatility - you can play around with different fabrics to create a variety of looks. A lightweight cotton or linen would be perfect for a breezy summer top, while a heavier weight fabric like chambray would be great for a cozy fall or winter shirt. We can't wait to see your versions on social media, as we have got a feeling there is going to be a huge variety to be inspired by!

FIT NOTES
The Donny Shirt has a boxy fit without being oversized. There is no shaping through the waist and hips. It is slightly cropped and the hem is meant to fall above your hips. If you lengthen the top so that it falls below your hip line, make sure it will fit around your full hip measurement.
The Donny Top was drafted using sample measurements for a B bra cup and for a height of 5’6”[168cm].
We recommend choosing a size based on your full chest measurement.

You may need to purchase extra yardage if your fabric has a heavy nap, is directional, striped, or has an obvious repeat.
