Fabric Inspiration for Friday Patterns with Sew Me Sunshine

Hello Everyone! It’s Harriet and Jenny here from Sew Me Sunshine. We are an online fabric and haberdashery store that ships worldwide. At Team Sunshine we adore Friday Pattern Company and you will often find one of the team in one of the patterns. Day 2 of Friday Sewtacular is all about 'fabric stash' so we thought it would be perfect to share some of our favourite fabrics that will work with 4 of the much loved Friday Pattern Company patterns.

 The Ilford Jacket

This is a is a versatile style that’s modular design makes for a pattern that is simple, yet impactful. This pattern is perfect for many different types of fabric, if you fancy sewing yourself a more relaxed oversized shirt (shacket) then you could use our beautiful Robert Kaufman Flannels that we have in a variety of colours. But, if you are looking to sew yourself something more classic and structured then why not look at our Robert Kaufman Ventana Twills?

 The Heather Blazer

This stunning blazer has taken the sewing community by storm.  This unstructured, modern blazer is comfortable and stylish and has a slightly oversized fit that can be worn in all seasons. This blazer is perfect for any woven fabric with a bit of weight, such as, our Rifle Paper Co. cotton linen canvas, or if you prefer a plain colour then why not check out our rainbow of enzyme washed linens?

Hughes Dress

This is the perfect everyday dress, it is designed to be a timeless style with beautiful construction details that can be treasured for generations.  You can use one of our many rayons (also known as viscose) to make a chic dress with lots of drape, or you could use one of our linen blends to make a more structured dress that is perfect for everyday wear.

The Wilder Gown

This fashionable loose, flowy, tiered dress or blouse can be sewn in a variety of woven fabrics. For the long tiered version it can be sewn in a viscose for luxurious feel, for the blouse you could use a broderie anglaise and pair it with dungarees, and for the short dress version you could use a cotton lawn in a bold print for a statement outfit.

We hope this helped you choose your fabric for your next Friday Pattern Company make. Thank you for reading, and we look forward to seeing what you make, please tag us in your makes on Instagram!
