Introducing the Dew Top & Dress Sewing Pattern

Introducing the Dew Top & Dress Sewing Pattern

The Dew Top/Dress is a simple cowl neck style with big impact! The pattern includes a dress view with a shaped hem, roomy pockets, and a comfortable fit. The top features a subtle high-low hem and a line silhouette. The pockets on the dress are sewn flat to the front for maximum carrying capacity without added bulk. The fit is loose without being baggy. This is a comfortable style that sews up quickly! You’ll want to make this fun pattern over and over again!

Recommended Fabric:

The Dew is designed for knit fabrics. You will need a fabric with at least 25% crosswise stretch. It looks great in jerseys, rib knits, ponte knits, scuba, and more! If you are sewing the dress version, a fabric with a bit of body will hold the shape of the hem nicely.

Fit Notes:

The Dew is designed to have an easy, comfortable fit. Both the dress and top views have an a line silhouette that moves the fabric away from your body around the middle. The top length hits around your belt line and the dress length falls a few inches above your ankle. This pattern was drafted using sample measurements for a for a height of 5’6”[168cm]. We recommend choosing a size based on your full chest measurement.

Project Examples:

As always with our introduction blog posts, we like to mock up some examples using the pattern technical drawing so you can get an idea of what the Dew will look like in various fabrics. As well as some examples below, Chelsea has filmed an introduction video going over the model samples in more detail including the fabrics and sizes, so make sure to watch that (linked below).
Raindrop LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Jersey - Cucumber/Lagoon: Smoothing fluid drape of this viscose jersey makes for the perfect everyday Dew Dress, that glides over the body with ease. This colour would give it an effortless look as well. Style with a black leather jacket, and boots for the colder months, or mules and a denim Ilford jacket for summer.
Deadstock Nirvana Double Knit - Mulberry/Multi. How fun is this fabric print with the Dew shape, it gives is a kind of Wes Anderson, 70s vibe which is so cute. With brown boots. and layered over a cream Elysian Bodysuit, that would be such a lovely look.
Mystic Flocked Mesh Tricot - Black. We love how this fabric elevates the Dew Dress into more of an evening dress, and goes to show the versatility of the pattern. In a black mesh lace like this is would look so elegant and special.
With the holiday season approaching, what is better than a velvet garment! This is the Radiant Stretch Velvet in the shade Rooibos, and would make a great Dew Top to wear with jeans, or a cute pleated skirt like the Bernadette Skirt

Last but not least, this Deadstock Enchanted Plaid Double Knit - Rust/Azure. It has specks of green glitter in it, and would be such a fun knit fabric to make the Dew from. Style with a black denim skirt or jeans, heeled brogues, and a Heather Blazer for an office to party look.
