Fabric Inspiration:

The Davenport is designed for wovens and can be made in a wide variety of fabrics. The green fabric worn by our model Kate is made in a quilting cotton, which is widely available and usually ranges in cost to suit all budgets. The light yellow and white fabric is a cotton linen blend is lighter in weight than the green quilting cotton which is perfect for the summer months.

Depending on the season you might want to choose something more lightweight, especially in hot climates. We have some blog posts coming soon as well to show how to omit the sleeves.

Other fabrics you could look for are things like linen, cotton, tencel, rayon, silk, and more! Anything light to medium weight will work well as the fabric doesn't need to drapey in order for the waist tie and gathers to look good.

Inspiration:

Cottage Core - Floral

The Davenport looks amazing made in various florals and prints for a cottage, bohemian and cute aesthetic. It’s a great throw on for summer days when made in lightweight swishy fabrics.

Season-less styles - Classic colors & fabric choices for an all-year-round dress.

The great thing about this pattern is the longer sleeves means it can easily be a season-less dress that can be styled all year round. Layered with tights and a cardigan for the colder months, or with a simple pair of Birkenstocks in the summer.

We hope you enjoy the Davenport Dress pattern as much as we do. You can purchase the pattern now here and it will be available in printed format soon. Share your makes on social media and tag us @FridayPatternCompany #DavenportDress #FridayPatternCompany
