Retro meets modern:
With the likes of hit shows such as Queens Gambit, Emily in Paris, Sister Sister, the classic blazer is making a come back like never before - with a boxy 60’s silhouette combined with modern prints and colors. Blazers have been a wardrobe staple for many years now, and it’s exciting seeing how many possibilities there are in 1 humble jacket style. A big trend currently is mixing both retro and modern together with the boxy silhouette, bright colors, and styling in a modern way over jeans or pleated skirts.
Plaid & Checks:
The blazer was named after the 1989 movie ‘Heathers’ because of the style of the characters in power suits! The versions seen on Heathers vary from plaid patterns, bold colors, and patchwork; which is quintessential 80’s!
Recently there has been a resurgence of 80’s style coats and jackets predominantly seen in bright plaids and checks. This kind of style can be worn dressed up or down whether it’s over jeans and a t-shirt or a cute dress. That’s what makes the Heather blazer pattern a great wardrobe staple, as you can throw them on over any outfit and look effortlessly stylish.
I hope this inspires you to get planning and making your own dream blazer! The Heather Blazer pattern is available now as a PDF, shop here.
