Dew Dress and Top Fitting
On this page we are sharing tutorials on how to make common fit adjustments on the Dew Top and Dress.
Full Bust Adjustment
The Dew is drafted using sample measurements for a B bra cup. Because it is made for knit fabrics and also has a fair amount of ease it fits a variety of cup sizes as is. If you want to do an FBA on the dress or top below is a simple method!
- Grab your Front (A) piece.
- Slash across horizontally about 1" below the armscye.
- Spread the pattern. This is not an exact science but you can spread it roughly 1/2" per bra cup size you are wanting to add.
- Tape a scrap of paper in place behind your opening.
- Smooth out the center front and side seams.
- When you sew your front to back you will be stretching the length of your back piece to match the length of your front piece.
Raise the Underarm
To raise the underarm you will be adjusting your Front (A), Back (B), and Armhole Binding (D) pieces.
- With some paper taped beneath your armscye, draw a line extending your sideseam up your desired amount.
- From the top of that new line, use a french curve to redraw in the curve of the underarm. If you don't have a french curve you can eyeball it so that it roughly matches the curve of the existing armscye.
- Repeat this process on both front and back pieces.
- Your Armhole Binding (D) piece will need to be shortened however much you shortened your armscye.
