Mix and Match with Friday Patterns

One of the beautiful things about the Butano Button Up lies in its compatibility with other Friday Patterns. Experiment with different combinations to find your unique style. Whether you’re mixing more casual pieces like the Saguaro Set, fun patterns like the Bernadette Skirt, or perhaps something great for outdoors like the Sport Shorts, the Butano serves as a reliable foundation that complements a wide range of Friday Pattern styles. Below we have put together some suggested looks to inspire your next me-made outfit ensemble.

Outfit 1:

This look is a casual meets stylish combination, that serves as both comfy but also kind of quirky and cute. We love the look of boxy shaped tops, worn over a a-line skirt, and the Butano in a short sleeve, with the Saturday Skirt Set would look so fun together. To give them a kind of cool, streetwear feel we teamed them with Dr Martens Mules, cream sport socks, and a functional but cute cross-body bag. Finish this look with some of your fave art jewellery like gold hoops, or a charm bracelet.

Fabrics featured in the look: Saturday Skirt Set Skirt in a washed linen (shade Celery) from Blackbird Fabrics. Butano fabric is Yarn dyed stripe Linen, also from Blackbird Fabrics

Outfit 2:

Outfit 2 is more casual vibes, with some loose airy layering pieces that can take you from work, to casual dinner with friends. The long sleeve Butano without the neckerchief is a great staple, and we chose to style this cute gingham version with black linen Saguaro Pants, for an effortlessly cool look. The 2 patterns would be fine worn alone, but you can elevate the look further with a ready-to-wear linen vest (or use our Ilford Jacket or Heather Blazer patterns to draft your own). Some simple braided sliders, and a patchwork bag finish the look for that casual cool aesthetic.

Outfit 3:

Outfit 3 is all about the sporty, outdoorsy vibes, for those who love to get-up-and-go! Team a stripe short sleeved Butano with some Chambray Sport Shorts, for an athleisure look great for hot days exploring outside in the sunshine. We styled it with some New Blance 550 sneakers, and a pop of red with a cross-body bag, stripe sports socks, and a bandana print scrunchy!

Fabrics featured in the look: Chambray Cotton for the Sport Shorts, from Fabrics Galore. Butano in a chambray green stripe, also from Fabrics Galore

Outfit 4:

Outfit 4 can take you from office to cocktail hour! Layer an Elysian Bodysuit with a denim chambray Bernadette Skirt, and sling on a Butano over the top as a kind of outerwear shacket, in a laid-back cotton stripe looks both classy and effortlessly cool. Style the look with some Parisian details like lace pop socks, Mary Jane shoes, and a cross-body phone pouch.
