Last-Minute Sewing Gift Ideas on a Budget

The holiday season is in full swing, and if you’re a little behind on time (or budget), don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Handmade gifts can not only be more affordable but also full of love and personality. They’re perfect for loved ones who appreciate creativity and thoughtfulness. Here’s our list of easy, last-minute sewing gift ideas on a budget.

Free Sewing Lesson Coupon

Know someone who’s always wanted to learn to sew? Download our Free Sewing Lesson Coupon! It’s a thoughtful and unique gift that offers the gift of your expertise but also your time (the most valuable gift you can give)! Print it out, pop it in an envelope, and pair it with a small starter sewing kit for an extra special touch. You could put together a sewing themed hamper with essential tools, or even excess kit you don't use or need. Gifting needn't mean buying new or expensive things, and it will be a lovely gift for the beginner sewists in your life.

Low Cost & Budget Friendly Sewing Patterns

We offer a range of Pay what you can/free sewing patterns, perfect for creating quick and easy projects.

  • Friday Bernie Bag: This is a lovely project to use up scrap fabrics, and would work as a belt bag for all garments with belt loops, so you could gift to someone who wears lots of jeans, pants, or pleated skirts. Great for storing sewing notions whilst you work, or snacks! Shop the pattern here.
  • Friday Bateau Top: A quick and easy sewing pattern using knot fabrics and a nice essential for everyone. Gift the Bateau in a funky fabric, or embroider a little patch on the chest for a personal finish. Download here.
  • Friday Sport Shorts: The Friday Sport shorts would make great pyjamas! Choose a brushed cotton, silk, or soft french terry for a luxury pair of handmade pyjama shorts! Download here.
  • Old Coast Raglan: Another awesome sewing pattern to make a raglan sleeved t-shirt. Put together fun clashing colors or go for something more muted depending on the loved ones personal style. Download here.

Handmade Accessories

As well as using our patterns we thought a list of other simple projects would be good, because we often have fabric scraps laying around that would make great smaller items.

  • Scrunchies: A fast and fun project using fabric scraps. We love the oversized scrunchies with lace trim around the edge. This is something super quick and easy to make and the perfect scrap buster.
  • Reusable Makeup Pads: Eco-friendly and easy to sew, these are a great gift for the sustainably minded. Use soft fabrics for these and back onto some toweling or microfibre face cloths.
  • Pouches for storage: Simple pouches you can quilt from patchwork fabric scraps, add a zipper and embroider or iron-on the persons name for personalisation. Great for storing any loose sewing tools like clips, chalk, buttons, etc!

Gift Wrapping with fabric scraps

Turn the wrapping into part of the gift! You could sew a simple drawstring bag, using fabric scraps and ribbon or simply tie or fold the fabric around the gift and tie up with a bow. There are so many beautiful examples and ideas on Pinterest for this.
