The Wren Wrap Dress is for enjoying warm days and feeling the sunshine on your shoulders. It wraps to create a V-neckline and features adjustable spaghetti straps, a paneled skirt with extra gathering. The pattern comes with two cup size options (B/C or C/D). The bodice is lined for a clear finish. Depending on your fabric choice, the Wren can be something you wear day to day or on special occasions! In this blog post we will be going over everything you need to know including yardage requirements, sizing notes, fabric suggestions and more.
Fit Notes:
The Wren Wrap Dress has adjustable tank straps. It crosses in the front creating a v-neckline. Ties wrap around the waist and tie in the back. Because of the nature of the wrap, the waist and hip fit are somewhat flexible. Fitting the bodice may require a bit more customizing as your bust height, waist length, shoulder breadth all factor in. For guidance on diagnosing fit and tutorials on common fit adjustments, visit this page.
This dress was drafted using sample measurements for a height of 5’6”[168cm].
*We recommend sewing a toile to check the fit before cutting into your nice fabric!
A Few Recommendations to Help Pick a Size:
Choose your starting size based on your full bust measurement. When selecting a cup size (B/C or C/D) chose the option closer to the bra cup size that you wear.
Look at the ‘Bodice Length’ finished garment measurement for your size. Take that measurement on your body and see if it feels like the right length. If it seems like it will sit too high or low, check out our fit page for guidance on how to adjust the pattern.

Finished Garment Measurements:
The measurements below are the dimensions of the garment after it is sewn. The dress wraps, so keep in mind that these measurements include overlap on the finished garment. Bodice Length is measured from where the strap is joined to the bodice down to the waist seam.

Fabric Suggestions:

The Wren Wrap Dress is designed for light to mid weight woven fabrics. Fabrics with a bit of drape will give you more of the dressy look, while crisp fabric will give you a classic sundress. Rayon challis, silk, lawn, voile, linen are all great fabrics for this garment.
We have put together some suggestions above that would work beautifully but it's definitely a pattern to explore different options.
- Green Washed Linen in Asparagus Green
- Check Viscose Seersucker
- Cotton Seersucker - green and pink check
- Lollipop Stripe Yarn Dyed Linen Cotton
- Sevenberry Navy Stripe Textured Cotton
- Everyday Linen Vintage Navy
Yardage Requirements:
You may need to purchase extra yardage if your fabric has a heavy nap, is directional, striped, or has an obvious repeat. We recommend using the same fabric for the main and lining pieces. The yardage below includes both lining and main pieces.
Next week we will also have our sew along video tutorial on our YouTube channel (if you're reading this after the 4th July it will be available).
