Did you hear the Hughes News?

As you may already know, we are in the process of updating some of our older pattern designs. The latest to get an update is the Friday Pattern Company Hughes Dress Pattern. Now available in sizes XS to 7X, with additional bust cup sizes. The new and improved Hughes Dress sizing means it’s easier than ever to adapt the pattern to fit your style.

The Hughes Dress is the perfect everyday dress. It features viennese seams, sleeves that gather at the cap, and a gorgeous scoop neckline. It buttons up the front and has an adjustable lace-up tie in the back. The Hughes Dress is designed to be beautiful and flattering with design elements that make it comfortable and easy to wear.

As usual, we have pattern testers working their magic to make the new updated Hughes, so look out for lots of inspirational content coming soon. Below is some style inspiration perfect for all year round whether it’s a summers picnic or a winter walk - The Hughes Dress can be worn no matter the weather or your personal style.

The Hughes Dress is designed for woven fabrics. You will get a different look depending on the fabric you select. A drapey rayon or silk will give a more elegant dressy look, while a more sturdy fabric like a linen will give you a gorgeous everyday dress. We encourage you to be creative and daring with fabric! It would look amazing in a double gauze cotton, a nice shirting, rayon challis, or lightweight canvas - you can’t really go wrong with this dress.

Lightweight drapey fabrics such as viscose, rayon, silk, and even lightweight linens are great for spring summer dresses. In neutral tones, the Hughes dress can easily become a classic wardrobe staple or go bold with bright color and print for a fun summery vibe.

For more of an autumn-winter style, you can experiment with midweight fabrics like needlecord, light denim, chambray, and cotton. A lightweight corduroy Hughes Dress version would look super cool worn over a jersey turtle neck, with chunky boots and tights.

We can’t wait to see what versions you make of the Hughes dress pattern. Make sure to share your looks on social media by tagging us @FridayPatternComany and use the hashtag #FridayPatternCompany and #HughesDress
