It's festival season here in the UK, and so I wanted to create something perfect for a seaside music festival I am going to. I've been seeing lots of cute matching sets with tie front tops, but with collarless v-neck fronts. I decided to create this kind of style using the Saturday Skirt Set Top, by omitting the collar and modifying the pattern slightly to create the desired collarless v-neck front. What you will need:
All the pattern pieces apart from the collar will be needed for this project.
Fabric yardage will depend on your size, please refer to the instruction booklet for the amount.
Pattern Modifications:
The modifications are really simple, making this hack an easy one for beginners. Draw a line from the neckline of top front A, down to meet the curve of the front tie piece. As it is a straight line you can simple fold it under and tape with some washee tape, meaning you can re-use the pattern again without wasting paper.
As for the facing, you want to line it up against top front A, and grade off the same diagonal line on the front. As it removes a big chunk of the width, you will need to add this back in using some scrap paper. Tape it onto some paper, and use a ruler to draw 5cm width all the way down to create your new facing piece.
Cut the pattern out as per the instructions, of course omitting the collar pieces.
Sewing steps are exactly the same, just skip the collar instructions but sew everything in the same way.
The finished top is so easy to wear and style, and I made some matching Saguaro Shorts! I can't wait to wear this to a festival, and style the top with other things like jeans, or over dresses.

Paige made a size medium top. The fabric was from a Friday Pattern Company fabric drop last year, and is a deadstock crepe style fabric.
