Welcome back to another Friday Style Diaries feature, where we interview sewing community guests on their me made style inspiration and challenge them to make a Friday pattern and style it in 3 ways.
Meet the wonderful Swetha Mohan from @the.hemline.eclectic who has a wonderful bohemian chic style that we really love! Let's get stuck in to the feature:
If you had to use 3 words to define your style, what would they be?
Comfortable, Semi-casual, Functional
Where are you finding inspiration these days? This could be art, movies, music, nature, etc.
Nature and art
What Friday Pattern have you chosen to make and why?
I chose to make the Flaneur pants pattern. I loved the unique dart on the side with no side seams. the silhouette is great and comfortable and it looks great in different fabrics.
Talk us through the ways that you have styled your handmade garment.
1.The first one is a denim pants styled with the Quinn vest from True Bias. I think the fitted vest with this pant creates a good balance/symmetry and enhances the silhouette of the pants perfectly. I would wear this to work or even out for a casual dinner.
2. the second outfit is the pants made in taupe cotton canvas fabric paired with a halter top. Once again the balance is achieved but this is for a more casual outfit for a beach holiday lunch. you could change the fabric of the halter top to achieve a more night friendly look.
3. The third look can go eitherways. This is the zoey tank top from true bias with the Ilford jacket in a cotton jacquard fabric. I love this styling as it is comfortable, stylish and will keep you warm.
What is the inspiration behind your styling?
For me it's always comfort, functionality and situation based (what am i going to do all day that day). I am a mother so I am on the move a lot so symmetry, comfort and functionality.
Do you have any tips and tricks for styling?
What makes you comfortable is the best way to start. Do not be shy to try new things.
What is a song that you have on repeat right now?
OMG, Its Brisco at the moment. all the songs are good.
